Are you missing most or all of your permanent teeth? Do you wish to restore the beauty and functionality of your smile? Drs. Vela and Arredondo may recommend dentures in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth and the surrounding tissues. In our office, we offer both complete dentures and partial dentures.
Complete dentures are used when all of the natural teeth are missing. They can be conventional or immediate. Conventional dentures are prepared after any remaining teeth have been removed and the gums have begun to heal. This type of denture is ready to be placed about 8 to 12 weeks after the remaining teeth have been removed. Immediate dentures are made in advance, so they are ready to be placed as soon as the teeth are removed. However, they are usually only used as temporary dentures because the bones and tissues shrink during the healing process.
Partial dentures are used when there are one or more natural teeth in the upper or lower jaw. Partial dentures are usually made up of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base. This is sometimes attached to a metal framework that anchors the dental bridge in the mouth.
